Sodom and gomorrah in light of the sydney gay

The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible were not destroyed because of homosexuality. A third passage is Ezekiel — Pro-gay theology advocates cite this text more than any other because they believe it rules out homosexual sex.

Pro-gay theology advocates deny homosexuality was involved. So this is wrong. Study the clues. The first passage is Genesis — I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know.

To be sure, no one denies the people of Sodom were morally bankrupt. The following five passages, though, provide valuable insight into the sin of the men of Sodom. The fourth passage is 2 Peter —8. Still, I want to make an argument for the historical Christian interpretation.

It turns out you can resolve the debate with only one question. There’s only one question that resolves this mystery: What sin explains all the biblical data?. In light of the contexts in which 2 Peter and Jude cite the ruin of Sodom and Gomorrah and the influence of extrabiblical traditions on the epistles, it is unlikely that Christians only began associating the cities’ destruction with divine condemnation of fornication and homosexuality as late as the medieval age.

Gather data. Instead, they point to other offenses like gang rape, inhospitality, sex with angels, and other sins. Ezekiel says, and I quote, “Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom. Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me.

Therefore I removed them when I saw it. The answer needs to have the greatest explanatory power. Instead, the Bible teaches that Sodom's sins included arrogance, pride, sexual violence, and a failure to help the poor and needy.

In fact, the Bible tells us exactly why they were destroyed. Although there are over a dozen passages that mention Sodom and Gomorrah, most of them simply mention the cities without a lot of detail. Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.

When two angels visit Sodom, Lot invites them to stay inside his house. Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because of homosexuality. What was the sin of Sodom? What was the sin of Sodom? They were arrogant, over fed and unconcerned, and they did not help the poor and the needy.”.

The second is Genesis — This is the primary source material for the Sodom and Gomorrah narrative. This approach enlists a standard technique of rational inquiry: abductive reasoning. In the case of determining the sin of Sodom, the answer needs to account for all the verses and not be contradicted by any of them.

Pro-gay theology advocates deny homosexuality was involved. They were guilty of many sins.

The story of Sodom

Further evidence Sodom and Gomorrah about lack of hospitality or love in general In other OT passages the writers emphasized the lack of hospitality, not being gay, as the moral concern regarding Sodom and Gomorrah. But prior to the last 40 years, there was little debate about Sodom and Gomorrah.

Investigators of all stripes incorporate it. That means it must account for all the data—not just some of it—and not be contradicted by any data point.
